Miss India Crowned Miss Tourism 2005

It was a memorable evening for Miss India, Sonal Singh, 20, who was crowned Miss Tourism Pageant 2005 by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr. George Chan last night (23 July 2005).

The international pageant, held at the Mega Hotel here, also saw Miss Indonesia, Rizka Maqfira Doufri, 23, winning the subsidiary title of “Miss Talent” while Miss Venezuela Jhohanna Sabrina, 19, won the “Miss Friendship” and Miss Ethiopia Dina Sekadu, 20, won the “Miss Goodwill”.

Meanwhile, Miss Hong Kong, Li Ling, 23, won the “Best Night Gown” category and Miss Brazil Caroline Michel, 17, won the “Best Traditional Costume” category.

Another two subsidiary titles held before the grand final last night was “Miss Damai” which was won by Miss Singapore, Foo Choon Lian, 24 and “Miss Permyjaya” which went to Miss Kenya, Rachel Mbuki, 19.

The international pageant was organised by Alaric’s Productions Company and sponsored by Naim Cendera Holdings Bhd.

Among those present at the prestigious event were Assistant Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communication YB Lee Kim Shin, Member of Parliament for Baram Jacob Dungau Sagan, Miri Mayor Datuk Wee Han Wen, granchise founder and organiser of Miss Tourism Pageant 2005 Alaric Soh and the Chairman of Naim Cendera Holdings Bhd Datuk Abdul Hamed bin Sepawi.
