Naim celebrates Labour Day

MIRI: Established property developer Naim Holdings Berhad yesterday held its Labour Day celebration at Dewan Dato Permaisuri at Desa Pujut, Bandar Baru Permyjaya here.
The celebration garnered a big response from the staff who came along with their families.

The celebration, which started at 6.30am, saw interesting programmes like a jogathon, a telematch, a children colouring contest, karaoke and lucky draws being held.

Naim’s chief operating officer Leong Jee Van, general manager of operations Michael Ting and senior sales and marketing manager Alice Ting joined in the fray.

Guest-of-honour BN-SUPP Miri candidate Datuk Sebastian Ting in his Labour Day address acknowledged the hard work and commitment of workers in making this country what it is today.

“It is important for us to recognise the contribution made by our workers who worked hand in hand with the government so that our country continues to prosper,” he said.

He also encouraged other companies to hold a special day like this one to recognise the efforts and contributions of their workers.

Ting also said this family oriented event provided a platform for staff to spend more quality time with their families.

Meanwhile, Leong in his Labour Day message took the opportunity to thank his workers whom he said had done a wonderful job in making Bandar Baru Permyjaya the fastest growing township in Sarawak, where since its inception in 1995, its populace has grown to over 12,000.

Assistant Minister of Communication cum Sports Datuk Lee Kim Shin who dropped by at the event was also given the opportunity to say a few words.

In his address, he said the government had always appreciated the hard work of workers who contributed to the development of this country.

In light of this, he said workers deserved better wages and that is the reason the government implemented the minimum wage policy.

He noted under the BN government, the country had prospered so much with abundant job opportunities.

On another note, Lee said Malaysia was a peaceful nation and called on every one to fulfil their responsibility of preserving the peace.
