Naim-Curtin short video competition winners receive prizes

MIRI: A short video entitled ‘Why High Rise Home’ by a group of students from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang and Perak has won the grand prize in the inaugural Naim Land – Curtin Sarawak Short Video Competition jointly organised by Naim Land Sdn Bhd and Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia.

The students comprising Abdul Hadi Abdul Hamid, Loo Chin Lin, Sarah Lois Dorai, Muhammad Haikal Abdul Rahman and Goh Yun Chin produced a video shot in Penang promoting the benefits of high-rise living from the perspective of five individuals. Their effort won them RM2,000 cash prize, trophy and certificates of participation.

Placed second was a video called ‘In a Day’ by a group of Curtin Sarawak students Fazar Ria Muneera Safree Zainudin, Jonathan Ajeng John and Muhammad Izzat Jailani. They won RM1,000 in addition to a trophy and certificates of participation.

‘In a Day’ shows three individuals sharing a luxurious high-rise apartment, each in a different stage of life. The high-rise property they live in adequately caters to their differing lifestyles and they find living there most convenient, secure and fun.

Third-placed winners Daniel Kong Cheng Han, Ting Kee Heng, Ferguson Narutu Nobel, Benedict Su Kwong Hu, Then Sze Chuen, Tang Ying Ming, Jenifer Kong Sing Ing, Teng Khang Jin, Mohd Fazrul Johari, Basil Teo Shung Say, Melanie Lim Yiat Wen and Clement Akihiro Sim Sheng Hong from Miri won RM500 and similar trophies and certificates.

Their entry ‘My Dream High Rise Home’ tells a tale of a filial son who dreams of buying his parents a high-rise home and works hard to achieve his ambition. The video also won the People’s Choice Award, garnering the highest number of YouTube likes, as well as the Best Script and Best Actor awards. ‘In a Day’ won the Best Director Award.

The second and third-placed teams received their prizes at a prize presentation ceremony at the Naim Land sales office at Permy Mall here yesterday. The prize presentation ceremony was unique as it was held together with Naim’s Gawai open house which was attended by members of the public and visitors to the mall.

Presenting the prizes were Naim Land’s general manager, Miri operations, Michael Ting, and deputy pro vice-chancellor Professor Ir Yudi Samyudia

Also present were Naim Land’s senior general manager of sales and marketing Alice Ting and Curtin Sarawak’s corporate communications manager Nicholas Leong and the head of its Department of Media, Culture and Communications, Ngu Ik Ying.
