Naim donates to schools, association

KUCHING: Naim Holdings Berhad has donated a total of RM50,000 to Hng Nam Sng Tng and nine Chung Hua schools in Kuching.

The donations were presented by Naim Holdings Deputy Managing Director Dr Sharifuddin Abdul Wahab to Tay Boon Sin, who represented Hng Nam Sng Tng, and Ku Fut Po and Ho Kien Tsan, who represented Chung Hua Primary schools and Chung Hua Middle schools respectively.

Hng Nam Sng Tng received RM5,000, Chung Hua Primary Schools No 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 received RM5,000 each and Chung Hua Middle Schools No 1, 3, and 4, also RM5,000 each.
Sharifuddin said that even though the economic climate was still unfavourable at the moment, Naim would not be shaken by what were going on.

He believed that education was very important so that the country would have adequate quality human capital to generate future leaders, who would one day head the company and the nation.

He said that Naim had contributed not only for education but also for school project such as Formula One for School which had very good response and sports like badminton.
Sharifuddin pointed out that Naim was generally happy to contribute to society, especially in education, and would continue to support schools for the betterment of the country’s education system for future generation.

Meanwhile, Ku, speaking on behalf of the recipients, thanked Naim for the generosity.
Ku, who is also Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, said Hng Nam Sng Tng as a charitable organisation needed funds to care for the elderly and the needy in the city and it therefore, relied on donations and contributions from the Welfare Department and corporate bodies.

For Chung Hua schools, they were totally independent and also needed funds for expansion projects to cater for growing student population, said Ku
He revealed that some of the schools were in need of new building to accommodate the increased student population, particularly Chung Hua Primary School No 2 where the student yearly intake was limited to 200 but now had over 300 new applicants for enrolment.

Also present were Naim’s Head of Corporate Affairs Ricky TH Kho and Senior General Manager of Land and Administrative Matters, Charles Bateman.
