Miri, 2 October 2024 – In a meaningful tribute during the ‘Program Madani Rakyat Sarawakku Sayang 2024′, NAIM’s Regional Manager, Haliza Binti Segar, presented a special memento commemorating Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s 1997 inauguration of Desa Ilmu, one of our landmark housing developments at Kota Samarahan area. The event marked the beginning of Desa Ilmu’s development, a pivotal housing project that has since grown into a flourishing township in the Samarahan area .

The development of Desa Ilmu, with approximately 3,630 housing units, stands as one of the largest mixed developments in Samarahan areas. Over the years, it has played a crucial role in the growth of Kota Samarahan, transforming the area into a vibrant and accessible community. Strategically located near educational institutions like Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Desa Ilmu has provided affordable and well-connected living options, aligning with NAIM’s commitment to sustainable development and community building .

Furthermore, in line with Malaysia’s and Sarawak’s national objectives of expanding affordable housing, NAIM has also collaborated with Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) to build and complete affordable housing in Miri, Kuching and Samarahan areas. This partnership aims to deliver some 5,600 affordable housing units to the Sarawak community upon completion, with around 2,900 already completed. This further reinforces NAIM’s dedication to addressing housing needs in the region. These initiatives reflect the shared commitment between NAIM, the federal, and the state government to improve the availability of affordable homes for Malaysians .

The presentation of memento honors NAIM’s enduring legacy in Sarawak and NAIM remains dedicated to contributing positively to Sarawak’s growth, focusing on enhancing the lives of the local community through its property developments and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
